Everyone is interested in which electric cars have the longest range?

When trying to make a top, many questions always arise. According to which method to count? Is it worth taking into account the cost of the car itself? Should we focus on long-range? Or maybe service and power should be taken into account?

We studied the characteristics of the coolest electric cars and compiled our rating.

These electric cars are the best of the best in terms of power reserve. Electric mobile giants, the top of the battery elites. And they cost accordingly.

The following electric cars were included in the TOP-5 rating of elite electric cars with a large range and taking into account other factors.

BMW i4 eDrive40

It is not uncommon today to meet a car enthusiast who does not like modern Tesla or Polestar. The whole point is in their… electric mobile form. But if you take the appearance of a classic gasoline sedan and combine it with electric components? The BMW i4 will be released, which will surely appeal even to conservatives.

The car is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 84 kWh, of which 80.7 kWh are “real”, that is, the real capacity is slightly less than the passport one, and this is a normal situation. The WLTP range is around 563 kilometers, but that’s in ideal conditions. Therefore, we are unlikely to be wrong if we say that during normal operation, the real range will most likely be a little less than 500 km.

However, the model has a serious trump card. The BMW i4 can be charged using a charger with a capacity of up to 200 kW, which will quickly replenish the electric car’s energy reserve. At the same time, the car has many versions. For example, if the future owner needs more power, then he can always take a closer look at the M50 modification, but if long-range is a priority, then the eDrive40 configuration is better.

Porsche Taycan GTS

As we said at the very beginning, there is a factor of “desirability” added to today’s equation. And hardly anyone does not want a Porsche Taycan! It would have been great to include the related Audi e-Tron GT here, but given their similarities, it was logical to leave only one. If we are talking about long-range models, then it is worth taking a closer look at the Taycan in the GTS version, which will be released this year.

Thanks to the battery with a capacity of 93.4 kWh, the car will surely be able to cover significantly more than 500 kilometers. Unfortunately, Porsche has not yet announced official range figures. At the same time, the model charges its battery much faster than most competitors.

Here, DC charging can reach 262 kW, while it will hold about 200 kW to 60% battery. Add to that comfort and luxury, and you get a stunning electric car that could be classified as a “Gran Turismo” class, because this car is for really long tourist trips!

Mercedes EQS 450+

It seems that the top 5 longest-range electric cars are gradually becoming the “top of German electric cars”. And the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ is more than appropriate here. It is not the most productive in the EQS line, so if you need more “horses” under the hood, it is better to choose an option from AMG. However, the power reserve will drop significantly, and we don’t need it! So, our choice stops at the “450+” version. And its acceleration to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds is still quite a good result.

The EQS 450+ is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 107.8 kWh. That’s a lot, about 10% more than Tesla. It is likely that the EQS is capable of driving about 650 kilometers, and in optimal conditions even more. And this is achieved not only due to the battery as such, because the model has almost the lowest drag coefficient among all production cars.

Lucid Air

During the almost complete dominance of Tesla in the electric car market, many potential “killers” appeared in the brainchild of Elon Musk. However, perhaps no one has come as close to that status as the Lucid Air.

One of the main advantages of a sedan can rightfully be called a large range, thanks to which the car has the status of “long-distance in the world.” The special version of the Dream Edition Range allows you to travel 832 kilometers on a single charge according to the EPA method.

At the same time, the Lucid charges much faster than the Tesla. But there are several factors that prevent Air from being ranked first. And the main problem, perhaps, is the lack of reliable chargers that can withstand up to 350 kW of power. And the manufacturer does not have a developed charging network like the Tesla Supercharger, and the individual electric power stations of the Electrify America or IONITY companies, capable of quickly charging such electric cars, do not do much.

Tesla Model S Long Range

The Tesla Model S sedan is already quite an old electric car. True, every time Elon Musk shows that the car has almost infinite potential for modernization.

And the Long Range configuration stands alone here, because Tesla has always focused on energy efficiency, not battery capacity, which, by the way, is about 100 kWh in an electric car. The range is 663 kilometers. Yes, it is not as much as the Lucid Air, but Tesla has a huge advantage over the competition in the form of an advanced Supercharger charging network, which eliminates all the disadvantages of the Model S Long Range.

Descending from the heavens to the sinful earth, all the listed models of electric cars are certainly cool and long-range, but with them you will not organize logistics services and make money on transportation, as you can do with the Cenntro commercial electric car in different body options: VAN, Pickup, Cargo Box (isothermal van). These are ideal electric cars for business, although they don’t have the same range as the Lucid Air, but 310 km on a single charge is more than enough for transporting cargo around the city and suburbs.
