Electric cars for business are gaining popularity in Ukraine
During the past military year 2022, the Ukrainian market of all electric vehicles, including electric vehicles for business, grew by 150% compared to 2021. At the same time, the share of new electric cars was 21%, which is 4% more than the figures for 2021.
According to Ukravtoprom, in 2022, Ukrainians bought about 13,600 electric cars of various classes, models and brands with BEV batteries. Only in the last month of 2022, 1,600 cars with zero emissions of greenhouse gases were imported into Ukraine – and this is 66% more ecological cars than last December.
Types of electric cars by purpose: mass market (for everyone) and electric cars for business.
All electric cars have a similar principle of operation. The movement of an electric car is provided by an electric motor that uses energy from batteries for its operation. As an auxiliary element, additional drives designed to efficiently and rationally distribute energy can be installed on the drive wheels of electric vehicles.
Driving an electric car does not have any significant differences from cars with an internal combustion engine. The only difference is the absence of sound when driving, as well as the need to carry out standard maintenance procedures, as in a car with a gasoline engine, including changing the oil and consumables. For those who decided to buy an electric car in Ukraine, you need to take into account the fact that the number of electric gas stations where you can recharge your eco-car is quite limited, and therefore movement between cities must be carefully calculated.
Mass market electric cars (for everyone) are the most massive segment of the entire market. Usually, the mass market is passenger electric cars. The most popular electric car in 2022 remained unchanged – NISSAN Leaf.

- VOLKSWAGEN ID.4 – 1407.
- ТESLA Model 3 – 952.
- VOLKSWAGEN e-Golf – 862.
- RENAULT Zoe – 674.
There are also electric vehicles of other manufacturers: Aston-Martin, Audi, Bmw, Bollinger, Byd, Byton, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Citroen, Hyundai, Lotus and other brands.
The market for new electric passenger cars has grown somewhat since the fuel crisis, but already after the first massive missile strikes on the power system, the situation has changed: the offer for the sale of used electric cars in Ukraine has increased more than 2 times.
Although the prices of eco-transport in 2022 have decreased somewhat, the cost of a car for an average static Ukrainian remains quite high, so it is not surprising that the lion’s share of sales falls on used cars.
Experts advise to monitor the market for a few more months to see the real picture of the impact of “blackouts” on the sale of electric cars.
It is worth noting that not only the cost determines the popularity of electric transport. The market is influenced by the number of charging stations, the length of the run on one charge, the operating time of battery power cells (the battery is the lion’s share of the total cost of the vehicle. And if our country does not participate in the development of ways to increase the mileage of electric cars, then it is necessary to accelerate the development of the infrastructure for electric transport limitless possibilities, even in conditions of war.
